Are YOU New to Internet Marketing?

Many people consider the term Newbie to be bad and a derogatory statement! No - it is a matter of fact; we are all Newbies to Internet Marketing at some time in our careers. I certainly am!

Pitfalls and things to be aware of.

Whatever you hear out on the Internet, making money online is NOT necessarily a quick and easy thing to do! If you are on mailing lists that are always saying things like "Easy to Make Money Online Free", "Make Easy Money Online NOW" - be VERY wary. So many people start out looking at and buying products in the hope of making it quick. This can lead to spending huge amounts of money and getting nowhere! Despondency can set in. This will then put most people off trying to make any kind of life on the 'Net, and they go back to the daily grind with the impression that the Net is a bad and unfriendly place to try to make money! The whole Make Money Fast syndrome has given the Internet a rather bad name in some quarters.

How to start an online business and (hopefully) make money.

So, how can you make it online? There is a Process to making money or just setting up a business online. Sounds strange maybe, but there IS a process along with a few skills to learn and if this is done properly with a focus and determination, success online can be had.

You will need to find a mentor and teacher to guide you through the ways to master the skills of working online. This in itself can entail a lot of research. But once you find someone you can learn from and trust, the process is really a case of having the right mindset to just do it, cutting out months, maybe years of struggle and possible failure.

What is the Right Mindset?

It is very easy for the newcomer to get overwhelmed when starting in the online business area. As mentioned before, there is a lot of misleading and poor information available to the unsuspecting beginner. Very often the beginner tries to follow ALL the advice found and acts on NONE!

Trying to "get everything just right" before we do anything will soon show as a mistake. This leads to an overload of information and complete confusion as to what to get on and do! This can kill ALL original enthusiasm.

The mindset that needs to be taken is one of "just have a go" or "throw it at the wall and see what sticks"! Just get on and start!

Do Not Give Up!

There WILL be days when you really wonder what on earth you are doing. Will it ever work? This is where the resolve to "make it" will come to the fore and keep you going. I make NO bones about it, it's not a get rich quick thing, but once mastered it can pay dividends for years to come.

Skills needed to be able to start an online business.

You will need to find a niche area that you have a knowledge of, a passion for, something that "gets you out of bed" in the morning! You may have a great interest in Health, Cars, Travel, Sport, Music, Nature, Animals....the list is endless but it needs to be something YOU are keen on and liable to keep an interest in. If not you are likely to become bored with it and give up.



You will need to know how to set up a basic website for collecting email addresses to build a list of subscribers. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to know how to set up a "Thank You" page that will hold a "reward" in exchange for the email address and name. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to know how to upload web pages to the Internet. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to know how to set up email accounts. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to know how to upload an e-Book or other digital products to give away to give value to your subscribers. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to have an Auto-responder system to keep in touch with and manage all your subscribers. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to learn to be able to write articles to promote your niche topic. Not difficult, but needs to be done.

You will need to learn how to find other ways to get traffic to your web pages. Not difficult, but needs to be done.
None of these are truly difficult but they are the lifeblood of an online business.You NEED to master them and that will take some time! This goes back to the mindset to be able to work on three things.

The patience to learn these few skills

An aquaintance of mine (EDueck) posted this on a forum I belong to and I thought I'd pass it on - it is so true.

An Obituary printed in the London Times -

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common

Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for
sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost
in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having
cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't
spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults,
not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned
but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a
6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash
after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly
student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers
for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in
disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get
parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a
student; but could not inform parents when a student became
pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became
businesses; and criminals received better treatment than
their 20 victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend
yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar
could sue you for assault..

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman
failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She
spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge
settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents,
Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter,
Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized
he was gone If you still remember him, pass this on.
If not, join the majority and do nothing.

You can download Private Label Rights materials, articles, e-books, software, scripts, templates, etc. With these products, you can offer your customers a larger variety of products. This will allow you to spend less time and money developing new products to sell. Because you can also download products that have Resale Rights or Master Resale Rights, you can now offer your existing customers more back-end and up-sell products. This will increase your sales and profits. You'll also be able to solve your customer's problems quicker.

How JV Giveaways Build Your Name Recognition

In the last article, I explained the seven reasons why I like and use JV Giveaways. They were as follows. They help to build your name recognition and your brand. They keep you updated on what others are promoting. You can download products for your own personal or business use. You can download products to give away in order to promote your business. You can build your own targeted list and you can make money. In this article we will talk about how these events build your name recognition.
Building recognition can be a difficult task. So how will a giveaway build your name recognition? Every giveaway you enter puts your name out there to be seen, and not just at the giveaway event. But let's take a look at the event first. Whether or not you've upgraded, your product is listed with your name by it. While I think it's best that your product is one you've developed yourself, it isn't necessary. Just make sure you choose a quality product that fits you niche. The more JV events you enter, the more often your name is noticed.
Who notices? I'm glad you asked. Other JV promoters and owners look to see who has entered. The more often you enter these events, the quicker your name becomes recognized. This is important because they may contact you to partner with them in the future. People do notice.
Your name gets recognized because of the product that you enter. You've entered a product. Someone downloaded it, liked it and thought it would benefit the people on their email list. They contact you, you've talked it over and since they have a product to offer that would benefit your list, you each decide to promote the other's products.
Your name also gets recognized as you promote the events. Of course you email your list. But there are many other ways to promote. You can blog about them, tweet about them on twitter and you can let your friends know on social networks like Facebook, MySpace and Ning. I always tell my friends what products in the giveaways I think they would like or may need. You'd be amazed at some of the wonderful products that you can download, and all free. The great thing is, everything you put online ends up in an archive somewhere and shows up in the serach engines. Promoting builds name recognition.
So, as you can see, this is a great way to build name recognition. The more events you enter, the more your name is seen by people who will be interested in working with you in the future, as well as though who may be interested in any offers you may give in the future. 7 Reasons Why I Like Giveaways

I've been asked why I like giveaways so much and why encourage others to enter giveaways. So here goes, are you ready?

1. It builds your name recognition.
2. It helps build your brand.
3. It keeps you up to date with what others are promoting.
4. You can download products for your own personal or business use.
5. You can download products to give away and use them to promote your business.
6. You can build your own very targeted list.
7. When you upgrade, you can make money from the One Time Offers you enter. (I wish AOL would come up with a way to say "You've got money!" instead of "You've got mail!" when there's a receipt for payment in your in box. Wouldn't that be fun?)

So, how do you enter a giveaway? Here's what you need:

Create a new folder. Label it "Giveaway Records" I keep this as a main folder and add individual folders for each giveaway to this folder.

In this folder, you will keep all information you need for the giveaway. I use notepad to list all my information.

You will need the following:
For your profile, you will need to enter the email address you're using for the giveaway and the password they've given you or that you have created. You will also need to put your picture in your giveaway folder, because they'll want you to include that in your profile. They'll also need your Clickbank ID, your PayPal nickname and your Twitter username.
Your Giveaway Product:
1. Product Name
2. Product Image
3. Short Description Of Your Product (around 50 characters)
4. Product Description (up to 300 characters)
-Squeeze Page URL
-Direct Download URL (Here is where I put my thank you page with the download link.)
-Support Contact (Email address is what I use.)

You'll also want in this folder:
- your unique link to invite contributors and the one to invite members after the giveaway goes live
- the giveaway rules
- the date the giveaway goes live
- the date the giveaway ends
- copies of the emails to use for the giveaway

For those of you who do not have your own product to give away, go to my website on the 'find products' page. There you'll find three sites where you can access free private label rights products you may give away. Be sure to check out the license you get with the product and follow it to the letter.

Another question I often get is, "How do I promote a giveaway? I don't have a list!" I know what you mean. I had a hard time with that one, too. Here are a few ideas:

Email family and friends. Have them invite their friends. It's for a good cause, building your business. There are always products there they may find interesting.
Twitter about it.
Contact your friends on social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Ning, Yahoo and others. You CAN promote without a list. Use your imagination. DO NOT spam.
Blog about it.
Squidoo it.
Twitter it.

Finding Time

Today I went and tried to help my daugher-in-law load a program on her computer. For some reason the d drive wouldn't read it, so another time.

I put a few articles up on http://www.frugalebizproducts.com/blog I also have more ready to go and am waiting to see if I did the dates and times right! I set it for one each day for next week. :)

I loaded my autoresponder with emails for the next four weeks for all the campaigns I'm doing.

Yesterday I worked on my websites, adding tell a friend buttons. I'm still trying to find a header I like for two of the websites. I'll get it right yet! I know what I want and may have to hire someone to do it.

I hired someone to translate my book "Hearing God's Voice For Yourself" into Spanish. It should be done in a couple of weeks.

I had someone ask how I find the time to do all the things I do. Focus and increments my friends! Know what you want. Write it out. One thing per sticky note. Put them into piles - 5min., 10min., 15min., 30min., 1 hour, 2 hour, etc. Then when you only have a little time, pick one and do it. The trick is, there are only tasks that fit your goal for the day on those lists. When you have sustained time, great. But if you only have a few minutes, do that. It will get done.

I would love to take full credit for the information I am about to share with you, but I can't. I learned this from Mike Filsaime who admits getting it from Eben Pagan who may have learned it from Russell Brunson who possibly picked it up from Mark Joyner who…

I'm sure you get the idea. Whoever had this thought first, my hat is off to you!
The thought is this -- it is much easier and can be much more profitable to compete in a small niche than in a huge market.

Out there in "real life" this is usually not the case, but doing business on-line is a "horse of a different color" and one that is easier for a newcomer to ride.
Consider this -- If you want to enter into the highly profitable "Sporting Goods" market, you better have the mega-bucks required to open a Bass Pro, or a Cabela's or you can choose to specialize.

Why would you intentionally give up the lion's share of such a lucrative market and settle for a much smaller piece of the pie? Because, people who shop for sporting goods are usually just interested in the products.

The customers you really want are those who have an emotional involvement in your area of expertise. Percentage-wise, these will be your very best customers.
Who has an emotional involvement in sporting goods?

Here is one example -- left-handed people. In a right-handed world, southpaws are always interested in products designed with them in mind.
Did you know that scissors don't work right for lefties?
How about baseball gloves, fishing reels and bowling balls? Even left=handed footed) bowling shoes are different!

Statistics show that 90 to 93% of all people are right-handed. That leaves 7 to 10% of the WORLD who will have an emotional involvement in your products. As I am writing this 314,000 people are looking for left-handed scissors. You do the math!
Emotional involvement runs much deeper in some niches that in others. Sporting goods is actually a bad example.

Let's look at knitting and crocheting.

Daily Update

Hi Everyone!

Hope you're having a great day. I'm working on a survival workshop of all things. People have been asking me questions about storing food, etc. in what is being called "these tough economic times" so I'm putting together a two hour workshop. Finally

Hi all,

Finally, the autoresponder ebook is being edited. Still need to add some pics, but the end is in site. Some friends are being kind to help with proofing and editing. Couldn't do it without them. I really need the extra set of eyes.

Looking Through Things

Today I went through 3 of my cd's that I store items about internet marketing. It took me ALL day. Why? Because I didn't catagorize anything or make a list of what was on the cd's, so I remedied that today. I also chose the one's that I will be putting up on my website. For free. Nothing Exciting, But Necessary

Yesterday I spent the day doing computer maintenance as well as backing up my hard drive onto disc's. I also spent some time writing and keeping up with friends. Then we had church so it was a good day, and I accomplished some things that needed done.

Today I worked at church all day, and spent a lot of that time rearranging some things in the office.

I am going through all the products I have the rights to and am going to be putting a lot of the one's that have helped me the most on my website as freebies. If they helped me, maybe they'll help someone else.

Day Off

I sort of took a day off. Monday's are the days I usually reserve to play, clean house, cook etc. Today that didn't work. Instead I did things that needed to be done for church. So, tomorrow I'll do the things that I planned to do today.

Sometimes, things don't work out as planned, so we just need to do what has to be done and regroup. I'm sure you've had that happen. It's just a part of life that things don't work out the way we planned. It's okay, tomorrow is another day.

Had lot's of great things happen today. Was able to get some important things done for the church and for some of the members. THAT is a good thing.

Tomorrow while cooking, doing laundry and cleaning I'll be taking breaks to do the following:

One Of Those Day's - Weeks - Months - Years?

Today on a forum I belong to I saw this post:

"I've had enough of everything going wrong, and I do mean everything, there's not one single thing I've done since starting that has worked first time and not caused, days, weeks of trying to sort out before moving on.

Not going to depress you all, you're all great and I wish you all the luck and success in the world, but it's obvously not for me.

You really are such a lovely bunch and I love you all, I would say though, it hasn't been only two weeks, I've been struggling with this many, many weeks before this forum became live, and it is a sad fact, that everything I touch, goes wrong or doesn't work, for some reason or other, and after you've have many months of this sort of thing, the spirit and fight is just knocked out of you.

I've been trying for so long, and still have'nt got it together (I'm 64 by the way), even though I follow instructions to the letter, I don't get the expected result - so then what ? I have to ask questions, send out pleas for help, it all takes so much time.

I've put so much into this, I have written my own 70-page ebook, I believe in my product, it is so applicable to the situation in the world today, I also believe that I would sell my ebook, but if I can't get to grips with the techie stuff, then I'm dead in the water.

I'm tired of trying folks, as I said, it hasn't just been a couple of weeks, sometimes it takes longer than that to get one query answered, and I've had so many of them.

I gave it my best shot, but it's not to be, I know when I'm banging my head against a brick wall, and it's time to go.

The very best of luck to each and every one of you ............."

I've had times that I've felt like that. What about you? Listen, life is life. It has it's ups and downs. And when you're down, the LAST thing you want to hear are a bunch of platitudes. I do understand that.

I don't know this person well enough to speak into their life. But if I did, this is what I'd say.

"I understand. I really do. Learning something new, especially something technical is tough. But DON'T give up on your dream. You've written a book, something that is applicable to today's world. WE NEED IT. You don't have the "right" not to share what God has given you to share. Take a few days off, find the help you need, then begin again. You've already found some ways not to do what you're trying to accomplish. Now discover the ways to get it done!"

REMEMBER, "If you can be stopped, you will be." Refuse to be stopped.

Missed Wednesday But I Wasn't Slackin'

Hi everyone,

I missed Wednesday but I wasn't slackin', I promise. I was busy writing my newsletters to put on my autoresponder. Got them loaded today so I'm set for a few weeks. I'm starting to love the autoresponder!

I spent some time today playing with the template. Still can't get it to do what I want it to do - so tomorrow I watch the video again! I will get it.

Wrote some more on the ebook I'm working on. Sent some promotion emails for the giveaway events I'm a part of. Also did my first zipped file today and uploaded it.

On a more personal note, I had the cutest conversation with my 3 almost 4) year old granddaughter Annabelle.

She decided not to wake mommy and daddy up this morning and with her 2 year old sister, snuck in the room grabbed the cell phone and crept down the stairs. (She said she thought mommy should sleep.)

With the cell phone she started pressing buttons (she got the one's programmed in the thing), and she called several people. Finally she got me. We talked 4 times. :) She sang the abc song to me and just chatted on something fierce. It was so cute. Finally, the last time she called she said, "Grandma, Lily is getting in trouble. She's taking everything out of the cupboards and is making a mess." I told her to go get mommy up and she said, "Okay, I'll hide the phone so Lily can't get it." I said, "No - take it with you." The she said, "Okay" and HUNG UP!

A few minutes latter I talk to mommy. She couldn't believe she slept through all that. But well, that's what Annabelle and Lily wanted!

Ofcourse mommy had a discussion about not getting up and going downstairs by themselves. :)

What a few mind spinning days. We have had two of our computer's being worked on. One at the church and one at home. Larry Walker (God BLESS You) has been doing all the work. He still isn't done but has made some major helpful changes!

I have been working on my website (you can't see it yet) and I have begun making lot's of changes. I have the plans all drawn out so I don't get lost with what I want to do with each page. Have added extra links for books I want to give away. Chris Farrell made a video for me to show me how do bundle some together and get them up on the web site. THANK YOU CHRIS! Autoresponder Fun!

I discovered today as I was about to add the autoresponder code for my sign up page that I didn't save the code to add to other pages. Thank God that Chris Farrell teaches so well. I went to a page that I had put the sign up on and (in Kompozer) clicked on source, found it and pasted onto notepad so I can add it on all my pages. I want to give people the opportunity on every page to sign up for the newsletter and get a free ebook.

My computer didn't have internet for a while today, but it's taken care of.

Today I went and helped with Kiwanis Kids Against Hunger and we put together a soup mix. It will feed six. When done, we'll have done enough to feed 50,000 people. It'll go to the local food banks. I DID NOT look cute in the hairnet and no make up!

I've written 2 newsletter emails to put on my autoresponder. Hope to have 6 done by this evening. Depends on how long it takes the MSU Spartan's to beat Conneticut tonight!

One of Those Days!

Have you ever had a day when every single thing you tried to do presented an opportunity to learn something new. I had one of those today. Here's a few examples:

Started working on ebook - nope, wasn't flowing properly. Had to rework outline. :)

Got a notice from the Mother's Day Giveaway my link for the ebook I entered wasn't working -they were right. Got that fixed.

Got another notice that the book I'm giving away on http://www.frugalebizproducts.com isn't working. (Create Your First Website By 3:45 This Afternoon) Got that fixed.

Logged onto skype, checked sound, that wasn't working. Finally got that taken care of.

Went to record another video, that STILL isn't working - that's why I'm writing instead of talking with you through a video message. :)

So... today I've learned how to fix a few things.

Tomorrow I spend the morning putting food boxes together for Kiwanis Kids Day Against Hunger. Hopefully in the afternoon I'll get some writing done!

Not Much

Have you ever had one of those days where ideas are just flowing through your mind and won't leave you alone? Today is one of those days. I didn't have to go to the courthouse for jury duty today (not tomorrow either, I just called in to find out) so I at least was able to get the ideas written down.

I haven't gotten anything finished today. I've been working on the autoresponder book. Have the outline for that done. I'll be able to write tomorrow. Every thing is ready to go.

Well, it's been another busy Sunday, one of my favorite days. (Okay, I like them all - most of the time). Today I didn't have to preach, one of the women in our congregation is preaching for a few weeks. She's doing great by the way. So today, I was in charge of children's church. I Went Shopping Today - Okay, I Worked A Little Too

I took time today to go shopping with my daughter - in - law. Although they're legally married they still want to have their church wedding, so we went shopping for wedding items. We had a great time. We bought the topper for the cake, the cake cutter and server, the groom and bride champagne glasses, photo album, guest book.... well, you get the picture. What you may not know about me is that I HATE to shop. But it was great to spend time with my daugher - in - law.

Busy Day

Today's a busy day. I have some counseling sessions this morning and church tonight. I have a few minutes right now so I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to.

Last night I did a search for some free html templates. I found a few I liked and downloaded them. I made a few changes to them, the color and my site name. Next I'll play with the links section and see what I can do with that. Everything I tried last night didn't work so that's what I'm working on this afternoon. I'll put it up on my website later today so you can see my progress.

I've also had requests to help with email marketing, autoresponders, as well as to put on a local workshop for people who want to learn how to write and market their books.

I thought about it for a while and decided they all fit in with my personal mission statement and my plan for my websites. So... here goes.

I didn't begin yesterday because I try to take Monday's off. I am a pastor as well as all the other things I do, and Sunday's are the busiest day of the week for me. So Monday's are my days to relax, read, clean house, cook and do laundry.

One of our church member's asked me how I accomplish all that I do. It's simple, though not easy. If you want to do something, you make time for it. One of my favorite quotes is this, "If you can be stopped, you will be". I refuse to be stopped. I take one minute, one hour, one day at a time and do what I can do.

For learning how to put up websites, I've learned in 10 - 20 minute increments. I've learned how to take the small minutes I have and use them for something productive. Some day's I have large blocks of time, other days a little time, and still other days no time. I use the time I do have. I learned long ago that if you wait until you have perfect conditions NOTHING will get done.

Today I went through my website plan to decide what I want to learn next. I use small sticky notes to write down the things I want to do for the day. I don't write them in a planner. Why? Because I am a pastor, I'm on call 24/7. Some days do not go according to plan. People are important and they come first. Since I cannot stand to see something written in a book and not finished, I put everything I need to do on sticky notes and put the sticky notes in the planner. Then I stack them according to importance. If something doesn't get done, then it goes on the next days date. Keeps life simple for me.

Tomorrow, I'm playing with templates to see if I can find one that works the way I want it to for my website. We'll see how THAT goes. :)

Creating An Outline For All Of Your Articles

We’ve all had do it. Write papers. In grade school and through junior high, then it expanded through high school, and college. No matter how many times a person has done it, writing has proven to be a task many have continuously avoided. Now at a time when writing articles could help your book marketing strategy, facing the prospect may be tough.


While there are a great number of people who do not have the same attitude in article writing as others, there are still those who would rather walk in piping hot coals than do some article writing. What set other people apart from other towards article writing is that they are prepared and have some methods and procedures in writing articles.


One of the methods you can use to prepare yourself when preparing to write an article is creating an outline first. Creating an outline for all your articles helpe keep you prepared. You have an idea of what to do first and make a plan for your succeeding steps. Being prepared makes the job easier and faster. Being organized will allow for a more pleasant experience.



An outline can act as the design or blueprint for your article. This will guide you in creating the introduction, body and conclusion of your article. Here in this point, you can write down some of the ideas and sentences that you feel will look good in your article. This could be some of the focal point that could help make your article creative, interesting and appealing to a reader.


A carefully planned and fully prepared project will guarantee a problem and worry free procedure that can virtually go without any hassles. Creating an outline for all your articles will get you ready and breeze through writing an article in no time at all. Here are some tips and guidelines in how to create an outline for all of your articles.


Do a couple of brainstorming and jot down your brilliant ideas first. Hopefully you'll use parts of your book. Think of some ways to attract the interest of your reader. Designate a time frame where you can write down all the ideas that you can use for your articles. By this time you should have done all your research and information searching. Review and reread your ideas and notes, gain mastery and sufficient familiarity with your topic so that writing them down later on will be easy for you.


The next step is to discover your sub topic and sub titles. As you provide a first sentence for your article, one that immediately grabs the attention of your reader, you will need some as well for your sub topics. To be concise, you will need to get all the facts that will support your point.


These are the frames or skeleton of your article, now its time to add the flesh and the meat of your article. You will need to connect all your paragraphs and sub topics. This will form the body of your Article. While the introduction will usher in the ideas of your paragraph, you will need a conclusion. The conclusion will wrap up your points and drive in what you are saying in your article.


The outline for your article would also require you to write a draft first. This may take more than one attempt but remember that it is called a draft for a reason. Your outline shall be perfected as each draft is written and this draft is meant for your eyes only so there’s no reason to feel ashamed. As you go on, you will clearly see the bigger picture and write an article that will perfectly suit what is demanded of it.


Read and reread what you have written. Always refer to your outline so that you keep on track. Its not hard to ge caught in the moment and get lost in your writing frenzy. Your outline will help you keep on track. All those hours spent outlining your article will not go to waste. This will serve as your guide in writing articles. Trust and rely on your outline because this will prove to be a very helpful tool in writing all of your articles.
